So when I couldn’t decide on what to wear to a recent charity dinner, I figured why not try something a little different. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with jumpsuits. I love them because they are versatile and can quickly go from night to day with the help of great accessories. I don’t like them because they are generally designed for the average sized female. This is perfect if you usually buy your items straight off the rack. But if you’re like me whose body type isn’t as conventional, jumpsuits that fit well are tough to find. They are either to tight, too short, or simply look a mess. So for years, I have simply admired jumpsuits from afar. Until I made my first jumpsuit using Mimi G’s sweatpants tutorial (which seems to be discontinued). But now I’m venturing off on my own and drafting a pantsuit for a sewing challenge. Can’t wait to show you what I come up with.
I was recently going through my stash of thrifted clothes and came across this 80′s silk dress I picked up a while ago for $1. I remember being instantly attracted to the fabric, the buttons in the back and the print but definitely not the shape. But I knew it had a ton of potential. So when my sister wanted a refashioned outfit, we decided that the dress would make the perfect crop top and skirt set DIY. (more…)
This week’s style inspiration is the trapeze dress. This loose fitting dress is named after its geometric trapezoid shape. It is usually made out of light weight fabric that allows a lot of movement.
